Testament of Jacob, Gaselee1927 Bohairic translation, printedpage 89

APPENDIX hymns (~µ-vos-) which give comfort to them that hear them, so that (lva) they may write thy name (f. 189b) also in the book of life in the heavens, and number thee with the number of His saints that have pleased Him in their generation (ym,a) and now take their place (xwpevELv) with the angels (ciyyeAos-) in the place (xwpa) of the living. For we are keeping the remembrance of the saints, our fathers the Patriarchs (1ra-rpiapxTJs-) at (Ka-ra) this season year by (Ka-ra) year. Our father Abraham the Patriarch (1ra-rpiapX7Js-) on the twenty-eighth day of Mesore. Again, our father Isaac the Patriarch (1raTpiapX7Js-) on the twenty-eighth day of Mesore. And (Se) again, our father Jacob on the twenty-eighth day of this same month Mesore, even as (Kam) we have found it written in the ancient (cipxmos-) compositions (avVTaw1.a) of our holy fathers that were pleasing unto God. Through their suppli- cations and their prayers may it happen unto us all together to obtain their part (1upos-) and their inherit- ance (KA7Jpos-) in the kingdom of our Lord and our God and our Saviour (aw-r7Jp) Jesus Christ. Through Him is . . .1 the glory of the Father with Him, and the Holy Ghost, the giver of life, now and always and for ever. Amen. Remember me, that God may forgive me all my sins, and give me understanding, and give me rest without sin. Amen. 1 A word or two seem to have dropped out of the text: their nature can be seen from the similar conclusion of the Coptic text of the Testament of Abraham.
