Testament of Isaac, Gaselee1927 Bohairic translation, printedpage 73

APPENDIX 73 on the chariot (a.pp.a.) of the Cherubim, while the Seraphim went before Him, and the angels (dyyEAoi) and all the saints. Now (SE) when he had spoken these things, Jacob sped unto his father Isaac; he kissed his lips, weeping. Our father Isaac touched him, giving him a sign with the winking of his eyes, meaning: Be silent. Our father Abraham said unto the Lord: My Lord, remember my son. Isaac also answered and said unto the Lord: My Lord, remember my son Jacob. The Lord said' unto him: My power shall be with him, and he shall be glorified in My name. He shall rule over the land of the inheritance (KA71povoµ.ia), and the enemy shall gain no advan- tage over him. 1 Our father Isaac said unto Jacob: My beloved son, keep this commandment {eVToA.17) which I give into thy hand to-day. Keep watch over thyself exceedingly. Afflict not the likeness {ElKwv) of God; for what thou shalt have done unto the likeness (ElKwv) of man, thou hast done unto the likeness (EiKwv) of God, and God shall do the same unto thee also in the hour when thou shalt meet (-a1Ta.VTa.v) Him. This is the beginning (ap}(T}) and the end. (f. r77a) Now (SE) when he had said this, the Lord took away from his body (awµ.a.) his soul (i/roX"/), which was white like snow. He greeted (aa1Ta.(Ea0ai) it, He set it upon a chariot (apµ.a.) with Him, He took it up to the heavens, while the Sera- phim went before Him and all His holy angels. He granted (-xa.pi(Ea0ai) unto him the good things of His kingdom, and all requests (alTl'}µa) which our 1 Or, possibly" shall take no profit thereby" (i.e. the land).
